Where it all began
Sage Business Services Ltd. evolved quite naturally from its beginning 4 plus years ago when we operated as 1660557 Alberta Ltd. However, the time has come to give the company a proper name and website. We’re pumped that you’ve come to visit and would love to hear your comments, suggestions or the opportunities that you bring.
Now a bit of history...why did we choose Sage Business Services Ltd. as our name? It came down to the origins of the word sage. Many have heard the term "sage advice" meaning sound and wise. Another more interesting meaning of sage comes from the Latin phrase ‘Sapere aude” which first appeared in 20 BCE in the First Book of Letters, penned by the Roman poet Horace.
The story goes that there was a fool waiting for a stream to cease flowing, before he tried to cross it. Horace wrote the following: “He who has begun is half done; dare to know: begin!”
This phrase became the moral of the story, where Horace was suggesting there is value in human endeavour, of persistence in reaching a goal and of the need for effort to overcome an obstacle. Loosely translated to English “sapere aude”, means “Dare to be wise.”
We couldn’t ask for a more apt company name. Daring to be wise, daring to begin and daring to persist in reaching a goal is what Sage Business Services Ltd. is all about. We’re here to help you take that step.
